About MistTrek
MistTrek is an independent collection of game databases for players who want to understand a world, not simply finish it.
The name “Trek” comes from Star Trek, a series I deeply love. It reflects the joy of exploring a world and discovering its paths, stories, and secrets.
MistTrek grows one world at a time. It is built with patience, curiosity, and care for all the games worth exploring and remembering.
About MistTrek WoW
I may have spent more than one thousand of hours researching WoW data on Wowhead and in AtlasLoot and Atlas, but I was not satisfied with them:
- On Wowhead, I had to open dozens of pages to collect the data I needed.
- AtlasLoot and Atlas do not provide detailed item sources, and drops are not connected to maps.
In August 2019, shortly before WoW Classic launched, I started this project.
Unlike other tools that focus on final builds, MistTrek WoW has focused on exploration and discovery from day one.
- Item sources were the first feature I released. Instead of opening many pages, you can hover over an item to see exactly where to find it.
- How can you tell whether an item is good and useful? I later added an item score with adjustable stat weights.
- Later, the classes and professions sections were completed more easily, while most collects data came from AtlasLoot.
- For maps, I developed an editor to help complete the map data.
- Correcting every item source has been a very long trek. I developed several tools for it, but this work still took half of the development time.
About Us
I'm a web developer, and this small project began in 2019.
As a developer, the most romantic thing I can imagine is building this website. It’s a place where I can put my feelings about WoW, and I hope it helps other players explore the world too.
My wife is a designer. She transformed the interface from my original “developer-style” design into what you see today.
These are some of my old friends.
